💼 About This Role

You'll lead the SCAR team at Discord, the first line of defense against scaled abuse like fake accounts and spam. You'll set a vision for ML-driven automation and build a structured research program to outpace attackers. This role reports to the Director of Safety Automation and offers a chance to reshape trust safety at a massive consumer platform.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Lead and grow the Scaled Abuse Scientists team.
• Set vision for ML-driven automation and AI-powered workflows.
• Define north-star metrics and build prioritization roadmap.
• Partner cross-functionally with Product, Safety ML, Policy, Legal.
• Coach and hire team members; communicate to senior leadership.

📋 Requirements

• 2+ years people management leading technical teams.
• 4+ years in Trust Safety, fraud, or anti-abuse at consumer scale.
• Demonstrated ability to drive ML and automation adoption.
• Fluency in SQL and Python for data investigation.

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience with LLMs or AI agents for incident response.
• Threat intelligence research background.
• Relevant degree in CS, ML, Statistics, or equivalent.
