💼 About This Role

You'll lead the design and delivery of large-scale, distributed backend services for Confluent's data streaming platform. Your work will drive critical systems that must be secure, highly available, and operable across regions and clouds. This role offers the opportunity to shape technical direction and mentor engineers.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Design and implement complex backend services in a cloud-native microservices environment.
• Drive projects from requirements through design, rollout, and production operation.
• Improve service reliability by defining SLOs/SLAs and strengthening observability.
• Collaborate across teams to define APIs, integration points, and data models.

📋 Requirements

• 7+ years of industry experience building and operating backend systems in production.
• Deep proficiency in at least one major backend language like Java, Go, C/C++, or Python.
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems such as event-driven architectures or high-throughput services.
• Strong experience running services in a public cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure) including Docker and Kubernetes.

• Experience with data streaming technologies like Apache Kafka or Flink.
• Experience building multi-tenant or multi-region services with strict availability and latency requirements.
• Contributions to open source or technical writing.
