Description
As a Software Support Engineer, you will resolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu and open source software, working across the full stack from bare metal to Kubernetes. You'll collaborate with engineering teams, contribute upstream bug fixes, and help drive success for enterprise customers.
Requirements
- Exceptional academic track record; background in Computer Science, STEM, or similar
- Experience with Linux and open source software
- Proficiency in at least one of Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux
- Drive to learn unfamiliar technology and deep-dive difficult issues
- Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
Responsibilities
- Resolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and other open source software
- Maintain close working relationship with Canonical's field, support, and product engineering teams
- Develop bug fixes and backport patches, working with upstream communities for inclusion
- Review code produced by other engineers and demonstrate good judgment in technical methods
- Participate in team discussions to improve processes, tools, and documentation
