💼 About This Role

You'll set the technical vision and strategy for the AI/ML organization at an early-stage healthcare startup, building and leading a high-performing team of data scientists and ML engineers. You'll roll up your sleeves on critical IC work, prototyping models and debugging production issues, while partnering with Engineering to architect scalable ML infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in scrappy, early-stage environments and wants to ship breakthrough products that save lives.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Build, mentor, and scale a world-class AI/ML team.
• Define ML roadmap and architect data warehousing and ML infrastructure.
• Contribute directly to critical modeling, evaluation, and analysis work.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Clinical teams on ML opportunities.

📋 Requirements

• Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or related field.
• 8+ years shipping ML products with 3+ years leading ML teams at early stage startups.
• Proven track record of scaling data science and ML engineering teams in resource-constrained environments.
• Deep technical expertise in production ML systems and data infrastructure (data warehousing, real-time prediction, model monitoring).

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience leading ML organizations through 0-1 product development in healthcare.
• Hands-on experience with clinical data standards (HL7, FHIR, EHR) and healthcare ML challenges.
• Strong technical background in data platform architecture (Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, streaming data systems).
