Description
In this role, you will shape how AI systems handle sensitive chemical and explosives information, working with leading AI safety researchers to prevent catastrophic misuse. You'll design evaluation methodologies, develop threat models, and translate domain expertise into safety requirements.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field with focus on energetic materials/explosives/chemical weapons
- 5-8+ years in chemical weapons/explosives defense with deep expertise
- Knowledge of high yield explosives application to radiological dispersal devices
- Track record of translating technical knowledge into safety policies
- Ability to work independently and collaborate cross-functionally
Responsibilities
- Design and implement evaluation methodologies for AI model capabilities related to chemical weapons and explosives
- Develop and execute mitigation strategies for C/E misuse in model outputs
- Create C/E threat models including precursor identification and synthesis routes
- Collaborate with software engineers to refine detection systems and automated enforcement tools
- Translate C/E domain knowledge into actionable safety requirements and benchmarks
