Description

You will lead a team to build software that makes database operations reliable and automated, integrating open-source databases with Airbnb's infrastructure. You'll define the technical vision, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams to deliver scalable solutions.

Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering management experience.
• 6+ years of relevant software development experience in a fast-paced tech environment.
• Experience building and operating distributed databases and long-term evolvable services.
• Experience in organization design for a scaling team.
• Expertise with a public cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their storage, VM, networking, Kubernetes, security offerings.
• Excellent communication skills and teamwork ability.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute vision and 3-year roadmap for the control plane area.
• Stay in touch with technical designs and decisions, acting as a sounding board.
• Synthesize technical information and represent the team with upper management.
• Align with ORM and SRE teams on charters and capabilities.
• Attract top talent, mentor individual contributors, and manage promotions and careers.
• Nurture a culture of rigor and responsible development from design to production.
• Represent Airbnb with open source communities and external partners.
