Description

You will assist a Team Leader in performing in-depth safety inspections of bridges, culverts, pipes, and other highway structures across North Carolina, taking precise measurements and documenting deficiencies to support asset management. The work involves hazardous conditions like heights, traffic, and confined spaces, and requires report writing for structural integrity evaluations.

Requirements

• Experience using Word and Excel
• Experience with structure plan reading
• Experience with bridge inspection equipment (Hydra Platforms, Man Lifts, Snooper Trucks or Boats)
• Experience with digital cameras, tape measures, hammers and ladders
• Experience in drafting, sketching and report writing
• Associate's degree in civil engineering technology or high school/GED with 2 years progressive experience in inspection, construction, design, or maintenance of steel/concrete bridges

Responsibilities

• Assist Team Leader with in-depth safety inspections of bridges, culverts, pipes, walkways, and sign clearances
• Take precise measurements to detect movement, deterioration, or damage to structural members
• Write detailed structure inspection reports documenting findings for asset management
• Train new inspectors
• Schedule and plan team activities in conformance with bridge priorities
