Description

As a Lead Technical Animator, you will manage a team responsible for developing new animation features in engine and supporting current tech, while improving pipeline and planning practices to enhance content efficiency. You will collaborate with code and design leads, mentor junior animators, and work closely with gameplay and engine programmers to deliver polished presentations.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a manager.
• Familiarity with animation systems including blending, warping, layering, synched choreography, and state machines.
• Strong understanding of logic, technical architecture, and scripting languages.
• Familiarity with animation pipelines from mesh to implementation.
• Ability to collaborate with teams from various disciplines.
• Ability to own a feature from pitch to final implementation.
• Comfortable working in Jira or Confluence.
• Positive attitude and ability to give/receive objective feedback.
• 5+ years as a Game Designer, Animator, or Programmer, with at least 3 years in relevant character animation area.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of Technical Animators, setting goals, providing feedback, and supporting career development.
• Work with code and design leads to establish technical parameters for each project.
• Mentor mid-level and junior animators through classes and workshops.
• Create and maintain animation blueprints, state machines, and character data.
• Tune blending for gameplay animations.
• Break down and document design features into easy-to-animate content.
• Work with Designers and Animators to maintain best practices and optimal workflows.
• Support animation implementation with Missions, Systems, and Gameplay teams.
• Research and prototype new animation systems.
• Communicate with Gameplay and Engine Programmers to develop new features.
• Document system functionality and breakdowns.
• Identify and implement pipeline improvements.
