You'll join the Kong event gateway team, building a high-performance proxy for the Kafka protocol. You'll work on core features like low-level optimizations and collaborate with engineers on the shared data-plane platform. This role offers a chance to shape event-driven architectures in a fast-growing area of Kong's platform.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Build and maintain a high-performance Kafka protocol proxy
• Architect, design, and implement new event gateway features
• Troubleshoot bugs and perform performance tuning
• Work with data plane engineers to expand the Kong runtime platform

📋 Requirements

• 2+ years of server-side programming experience
• 2+ years of Rust programming with async Rust
• Experience in distributed systems and Linux networking
• Comfortable working with a remote distributed team

✨ Nice to Have

• Hands-on experience with Tokio
• Contributions to Rust open source projects
• Hands-on experience with Kafka internals
