You'll serve as a trusted legal partner to Betterment, managing disputes, regulatory inquiries, and policy advocacy. You'll build and own legal processes to mitigate risk and defend the company in litigations and arbitrations. This role sits at the center of Betterment's high-impact legal team, offering the chance to expand your litigation expertise into regulatory and product counseling.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Serve as trusted legal partner to business, triaging escalated concerns
• Resolve and avoid potential disputes, driving pre-litigation strategy
• Represent Betterment in litigation, arbitrations, and regulatory proceedings
• Coordinate responses to third-party subpoenas

📋 Requirements

• JD and admission to the NY bar
• 4+ years of litigation experience in-house or at a firm
• Adaptable mindset with bias toward action
• Excellent writing ability

✨ Nice to Have

• Knowledge of financial services regulation including Advisers Act and ERISA
• FINRA or AAA arbitration experience
• In-house experience at a startup or high growth company
