Description

You will design and support outside plant telecommunications infrastructure, including copper and fiber networks, for projects like Fiber-to-the-Home and Metro-E Ethernet. Your work ensures network reliability while managing budgets and coordinating with municipalities and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Experience designing and engineering OSP telecom infrastructure (fiber and copper)
• Strong understanding of OSP principles, engineering standards, and telecom practices
• Knowledge of right-of-way acquisition, easements, and permitting processes
• Ability to identify existing voice/data plant and utilities in site plans and field
• Familiarity with FTTH, DSL, Metro-E, SONET, and fiber transport technologies

Responsibilities

• Perform OSP engineering for copper/fiber cable networks (aerial, buried, conduit)
• Develop engineering designs for poles, conduit routes, and buried facilities
• Prepare permit packages and coordinate with local jurisdictions
• Track project budgets and compare estimated vs actual costs
• Conduct field data collection and inspections for design and construction planning
