Description

You will support manufacturing and development of SpaceX launch vehicles, spacecraft, and satellites by developing, qualifying, and optimizing welding designs and processes. You'll interface daily with design and manufacturing engineers to improve welded assemblies and enforce standardized practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
• 5+ years experience with hands-on fabrication, manufacturing, or testing of welded assemblies
• Willing to work long hours and weekends as needed
• Ability to travel up to 50% to other SpaceX facilities
• Ability to perform job duties requiring standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting, and climbing

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and qualify weld processes for EBW, LBW, GTAW, orbital tube, resistance, GMAW, friction stir, and plasma arc welding
• Support production operations on full-scale welded assemblies, providing direction on correct techniques
• Work with design, tooling, automation, and development engineers to improve welded designs for manufacturing
• Set up welding qualification test campaigns and interpret mechanical testing and NDE results
• Develop and implement improved process control using test and NDE results
