As a B-Corp certified company, you’re joining a sustainable business that genuinely cares about our people, our products and our impact on the planet. Our goal is simple: to help dogs live healthier, happier, and longer lives, while leaving humans smiling after every interaction. We’ve come a long way since our co-founders (Kev & Dave), hand delivered the very first Butternut Box. Today, we feed hundreds of thousands of hungry dogs across the UK and Europe - but we won’t stop until we’re feeding dogs everywhere. To get there, we need a team of brilliant people who share that ambition to come and work for us. 🐾 The job: We are looking for an experienced People Advisor with proven experience in the Belgian employment landscape to join us on a fixed-term basis. In this role, you will own the day-to-day HR operational cycle for Belgium, while ideally scaling your expertise to support our payroll and generalist needs in the Netherlands (BNLX). You will own the people operations for all things payroll, contracts, and administration, ensuring smooth experiences for our teams in-market. Beyond daily operations, you will have a unique opportunity to leave your mark by helping us transition, set up, and automate a new payroll provider ecosystem to cut out manual input. A bit about the work you’ll deliver: Payroll & Admin Ownership (Belgium): Execute and own end-to-end payroll administration for Belgium and Netherlands (approx 75 employees), managing relationships with our outsourced payroll partners to ensure accuracy and compliance. Contract & Lifecycle Management: Draft, issue, and manage compliant employment contracts, addendums, and local onboarding/offboarding documentation aligned with Belgian labor law. Benefits Administration: Coordinate annual benefit renewals and benefits platforms, day-to-day benefits processing, including new-hire enrollments, life events, terminations, and responding to employee queries. Systems & Provider Automation: Play a key role in an upcoming project to change and optimize our Belgian payroll provider. You'll identify opportunities to build automations with the help of AI, streamline data flows, and reduce manual data entry. Data Integrity: Maintain accurate, up-to-date employee records within our central HRIS (HiBob), running reports and ensuring seamless data alignment between internal systems and external providers. A bit about the team you’ll be joining: You will partner closely with regional Managers, Finance, and external vendors to address employee queries regarding pay, benefits, and local labor legislation. You will report to the Benelux People Manager and be part of the wider People Team, collaborating with other payroll specialists to drive payroll excellence across our global footprint. A bit about what we’re looking for: Belgian HR & Payroll Expertise: You have a proven track record working confidently within the Belgian employment law framework and running payroll with outsourced payroll partners. Ideally you have experience in PC200 and with contracts with variable work patterns and hours. Languages: You are fluent in English and Dutch (both written and spoken), allowing you to communicate effortlessly with our teams and local partners. Fluency in French is a massive bonus and will make your profile stand out! Systems & Spreadsheet Savvy: Proficient with HRIS platforms (experience with HiBob is ideal) and highly comfortable using Excel/Google Sheets to cross-check and manipulate payroll data. Hands-on, zero ego, proud of your craft: You are comfortable working through highly detailed compliance tasks, setting up files from scratch, and leaving processes better than how you found them. Strong Communicator: Strong communication skills to easily translate complex local labor/payroll guidelines into simple, practical advice for managers. The "Nice-to-Haves": Experience setting up new local payroll providers, transitioning vendors, or introducing HR tech automations to eliminate manual workflows is a massive plus. ⏳ The interview process: Initial call with your dedicated Talent Acquisition Partner, carried out remotely. Skills interview, usually carried out remotely. Behaviours interview, usually carried out in person. We use an AI note-taking tool called Metaview at some stages in our interview processes. If you'd prefer to opt out, please inform your Talent Acquisition Partner as soon as possible. We're committed to ensuring a positive interview experience for all candidates. That’s why we make FRESHly prepared food, cooked just like you would at home and delivered direct to our customers in perfect portions. 🐾 The job: Please note that this role will close on: 4th of September This role sits within the Product Development team, reporting to the Product Development Director. You’ll own our Additional Products category end-to-end, spotting opportunities, shaping concepts, delivering launches, and deciding what stays, grows, or goes. You’ll also own product lines across wellness, gifting, food and non-food, combining the customer rigour of an innovator with the execution focus of an NPD lead, always raising the bar on how and what we deliver while staying true to the customer and ensuring every product has a clear reason to exist. ⏳ The nitty-gritty: It’s a 15-month maternity cover , with genuine potential to stay with us beyond the placement if you’re successful in the role and interested in moving into another role at a relevant level within the team or wider squad. A bit about the team you’ll be joining: We’re a hybrid squad working across the UK, owning the product pipelines for both Butternut Box and Marro. We’re the foundation of what the business builds: great food, strong nutrition and products that genuinely improve pets’ health. We own what the physical product looks like and how it delivers real benefits for dogs and cats. We’re deliberately lean and close-knit, so everyone gets stuck in, has real ownership and plenty of opportunity to develop and progress. What brings us together is a deep belief in our products, our category and the power of fresh food to improve pets’ lives. A bit about the work you’ll deliver: Strategy & Ownership You'll own and help shape the long-term roadmap for additional products and gifting across both brands. This means you will: Actively influence the pipeline to decide where we go next, prioritising what we work on now, next, and later. Bring new ideas and opportunities to the business from market, customer, and competitor research Identify new opportunities, manage reformulations, and make the call on products that no longer pull their weight. Work with third-party partners to identify, develop, and deliver fresh opportunities across the category. Product Development, concept to launch You'll oversee the end-to-end development of innovative additional products and gifting ranges, from initial concept right through to launch. You will: Cover both food and non-food items, keeping every range true to its brief with a clear, justified reason to exist. Create compelling, customer-led briefs grounded in real insights, and act as the customer champion to ensure the original opportunity doesn't get watered down. Help build recipes, plan and manage trials, and handle pre-production activities. Lead product launches, support customer-facing teams on go-to-market, and run honest post-launch reviews. Develop and maintain product briefs, specifications, and supporting documentation to an exceptionally high standard. Collaborate with the Projects team to help us strengthen our ways of working, always pushing on faster, better and bigger pipelines. Team & Stakeholder Management You will manage the additional products team to deliver agreed roadmaps on time and in full. This involves: Bringing on your one direct report and continuously raising the bar on the quality of inputs and outputs. Collaborating with and influencing stakeholders across Senior Leadership, Marketing, Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, CRM, and Brand. Working closely with our external partners. Commercial & Compliance A big part of this role is balancing product quality with commercial viability. You will: Collaborate with the brand, data, commercial, and ops teams to determine selling prices, forecasts, positioning and branding, and to understand where capital investment is needed. Support Procurement and commercial teams with cost analysis and margin delivery. Ensure all products comply with relevant legislation, regulations, and internal standards, including claim substantiation. Lead the charge in resolving compliance issues or product complaints with third parties as they arise. 👀 What we're looking for: Experience. 8+ years in proposition, product development or innovation, ideally in food, FMCG or consumer products, or equivalent depth of experience. Experience across food and non-food ranges is a plus, as is exposure to the pet category. A relevant degree (e.g. food science, animal science, nutrition, product development or business) or equivalent hands-on experience. Food safety, nutrition or product development qualifications are welcome but not required. A brand and proposition instinct. You get what makes a brand special and know how to translate that into products people want. You care deeply about the quality and integrity of what you put into the world, and won’t compromise on a product’s reason to exist just to hit a number. A customer champion. You put the customer at the heart of your decisions and believe doing the right thing for them builds long-term value. You’re comfortable using both qualitative and quantitative insight to understand what they need and why. An end-to-end deliverer. You have a track record of taking products from idea to launch, ideally working with third-party partners and physical products. Commercially minded. You’re comfortable making the trade-offs between cost, quality and customer value, with a sharp eye for what makes a product worth building. A driver of excellence. You’re ambitious, results-driven and always looking for ways to make things better. Good enough isn’t really your thing. A natural plate-spinner. You’re energetic, organised and good with people, able to keep multiple moving parts on track without losing momentum. A collaborative influencer. You build strong relationships, bring people with you and can influence effectively across teams and seniority levels. A people developer. You genuinely enjoy helping others grow and bringing your team with you, with experience managing or mentoring at least one person. An agile decision-maker. You’re comfortable moving quickly, figuring things out as you go and making decisions with imperfect information. You’re curious, quick to close knowledge gaps and willing to back yourself. True conviction. You care deeply about the category and believe in what we’re building and that it can make a difference to the lives of pets and their owners. ⏳ The interview process: Initial call with your dedicated Talent Acquisition Partner, carried out remotely. Develop your engineers: own career planning, promotions, coaching, and structured, continuous performance management. Plan and build the team: lead hiring, headcount planning, and resource allocation in line with the team's roadmap and the firm's priorities. Cultivate a healthy team: actively manage culture, morale, and productivity, and address conflict early and constructively. Lead with rhythm: hold regular one-on-ones, give clear and timely feedback, and invest in team building. Translate technical and business requirements into clear delivery plans, identifying dependencies with other teams and risks up front. Act as the liaison between Engineering, Trading, and Quant teams to design and roll out new products. Drive delivery predictability: track progress against plan, manage risk and scope trade-offs, and report status clearly to stakeholders. Continuously improve delivery processes and team velocity. Ensure alignment: keep your team's work connected to organisational goals and delivery timelines, collaborating closely with Tech Leads and Staff Engineers on research and technical direction. What you need to succeed: Strong people-leadership skills: coaching, feedback, conflict resolution, and building an environment in which engineers thrive Strong project management skills: experience building roadmaps, sequencing work, managing dependencies and risk, and driving delivery predictability in a fast-moving environment. A technical or research background sufficient to earn the respect of the engineers you manage and to engage credibly in technical discussions. Demonstrated experience leading, growing, and managing the performance of applied researchers and software engineers. A track record of delivering applied research through a team, balancing scope, quality, and timelines. Sound judgment in hiring and developing talent. Excellent communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including experience managing cross-functional stakeholders (e.g. Trading, Quant). The climate crisis is the defining challenge of our time—but it’s also the greatest opportunity for innovation, and a challenge we’re proud to take on. At Overstory, we’re harnessing cutting-edge technology to enable a resilient electrical grid that keeps communities thriving as our world changes. The grid is the backbone of life as we know it. It powers hospitals, keeps food fresh, and ensures communities stay connected. But extreme weather, aging infrastructure, and growing wildfire risks are putting this critical system under pressure. All of this combined makes the electric utility industry the greatest opportunity for tackling climate change. One of the leading causes of catastrophic wildfires and power outages? Trees and brush coming into contact with power lines. That’s where we help. At Overstory, we use AI and advanced satellite imagery to pinpoint and prioritize vegetation risks before they materialize. By giving utilities critical analysis on those risks, we’re helping prevent outages, reduce wildfire risks, and accelerate the transition to a safer, more resilient grid. Our team spans the Americas and Europe, and we work with utility partners across the Americas and beyond. We’re outdoor enthusiasts, musicians, artists, athletes, parents, and adventurers. What unites us is a passion for solving complex problems, a commitment to climate action, and the belief that technology should be a force for good. Join us to help us build a more resilient world together. Role & Team We are excited to add a Staff Data Scientist, Wildfire to our team. Principal Data Engineer (m/f/d)

Hamburg, Germany · Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands · Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany · Munich, Bavaria, Germany · Stuttgart, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany

Principal data engineers at Thoughtworks are strategic leaders who spearhead data engineering initiatives, tackle complex business challenges and uncover transformative insights. They possess a deep understanding of a client's business ecosystem and partner with executives to align technology strategies with business objectives. By contextualizing emerging trends and Thoughtworks' exploration, they expand the impact of data engineering within the client organization. They draw upon their profound expertise in developing modern data architectures and infrastructure for the management of data applications. Effective collaboration is paramount, as they adeptly convey their discoveries to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. They stay abreast of industry advancements, ensure data quality and security, and provide mentorship to team members. At Thoughtworks, data engineers leverage deep technical knowledge to solve complex business problems, making a significant impact on client success. This is a client-facing, builder's leadership role. You will start with a small, senior team and grow it through technical depth, delivery excellence and thought leadership, rather than inheriting a large organisation to manage. The role is based in Germany and requires regular travel to client sites, up to approximately 50% of your time. Job responsibilities You will collaborate with sales and pre-sales to clarify requirements, design viable solutions and independently drive complex pursuits with technical and executive stakeholders. You will establish a clear vision and direction for the data paradigm and practices, aligning it with the overall business strategy. You will collaborate with executive-level stakeholders to understand their strategic objectives and identify opportunities to leverage data and data quality. You will consult on complex data platform programs, synchronizing cross-cutting architectural concerns and providing client-facing technical leadership as a data subject-matter expert. You will create, design and develop intricate data processing pipelines, addressing clients' most challenging problems. You will collaborate with data scientists to design scalable implementation and production of their models. You will write clean and iterative code based on TDD and leverage continuous-delivery practices to deploy, support and operate data pipelines. You will design and implement the strategy around data governance, data security and data privacy to support business and compliance requirements. You will grow the capability around you, mentoring engineers and building out the next generation of the team. You lead through influence rather than headcount: growing capability and raising delivery standards inside the organisation, while building our presence in the market through thought leadership, ecosystem initiatives and client-facing points of view. Job qualifications Technical Skills You must have extensive pre-sales experience and a proven ability to independently drive complex pursuits and create winning commercial proposals. You are equally happy coding and leading a team to implement a solution, and you stay hands-on in at least one or two core technologies. You have experience in system design using Domain-Driven Design for enterprise organisations with various domains. Working with data excites you; you have created big-data architecture, can build and operate data pipelines, and maintain data storage within distributed systems. You have a deep understanding of data modeling and experience with modern data engineering tools and platforms, along with cloud warehousing tools. You have built and deployed large-scale data pipelines and data-centric applications using distributed storage and processing platforms in a production setting. You have experience designing and developing real-time and low-latency data streaming solutions (cloud and locally hosted). You have experience with data visualization techniques and can communicate the insights as per the audience. You have experience defining and implementing data governance and security policies, and knowledge of MLOps and data science concepts. Professional Skills You have worked in a consultancy or professional-services environment within the last five years, driving data and AI engagements end to end (recent examples matter more than historical ones). You can point to data and AI pursuits you helped win and shape within the last three to five years, including deals from around €3M upwards, and you can speak concretely to their commercial shape, trade-offs and delivery. You have grown a practice, capability or go-to-market asset, for example a reusable accelerator taken to market, combining solutioning, sales and delivery with tangible business outcomes. You stay genuinely hands-on: you can build alongside your team when it counts and are comfortable being the deepest engineer in the room. You bring significant hands-on and leadership experience in data and AI (typically 10+ years) and, above all, the appetite to keep building: growing accounts, teams and capability rather than only overseeing them. You have fluent German skills (C1) Other things to know Learning & Development There is no one-size-fits-all career path at Thoughtworks: however you want to develop your career is entirely up to you. But we also balance autonomy with the strength of our cultivation culture. This means your career is supported by interactive tools, numerous development programs and teammates who want to help you grow. We see value in helping each other be our best and that extends to empowering our employees in their career journeys. Responsible Use of AI in Recruitment At Thoughtworks, we use AI tools to support our recruitment team with administrative tasks such as drafting communications, scheduling interviews and writing job descriptions.
