Fingerprint empowers developers to stop online fraud at the source. We work on turning radical new ideas in the fraud detection space into reality. Our products are developer-focused and our clients range from solo developers to publicly traded companies. We are a globally dispersed, 100% remote company with a strong open-source focus. Our flagship open-source project is FingerprintJS (27K stars on GitHub). We have raised $77M and are backed by Craft Ventures (previously invested in Tesla, Facebook, Airbnb ), Nexus Venture Partners (previously invested in Postman , Apollo.io, MinIO , Druva) and Uncorrelated Ventures (previously invested in Redis, Rollbar & Gradle ). We have noticed a rise in recruiting impersonations across the industry, where scammers attempt to access candidates' personal and financial information through fake interviews and offers. All Fingerprint recruiting email communications will always come from the @fingerprint.com domain. Any outreach claiming to be from Fingerprint via other sources should be ignored. TypeScript Engineer, JS Agent Know what really happens under the hood of a browser? Can you walk through the JavaScript event loop in your sleep? Do you understand the browser rendering pipeline better than most devs understand their own code? Have you ever built your own JavaScript framework just for fun? Love open source? Then you might be exactly who we’re looking for. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill TypeScript/JavaScript role. We’re not building landing pages or dashboards here. This is backend-level engineering that happens to run in the most hostile, performance-constrained environment there is: the browser. We’re hiring a TypeScript Engineer to own our browser-side JavaScript agent, CDN integrations, and performance-critical SDKs used by millions every day. You’ll be crafting tamper-resistant, lightning-fast code that survives in the wild—pushed to its limits by scale, security threats, and the quirks of every browser under the sun. If you want to push the boundaries of what’s possible in the browser, apply today! But first, check out our [ open-source projects ] ( https://github.com/fingerprintjs/fingerprintjs ) to see if you can picture yourself here. What you’ll do: Build and maintain our browser-side TypeScript/JavaScript agent used for device identification, bot detection, and risk assessment Engineer for stealth, resilience, and performance-minimizing footprint, resisting detection, and maintaining compatibility across browsers Stay ahead of browser changes, plugin behaviors, and fingerprinting techniques Collaborate with backend, security, and data science teams to align signal capture with detection logic Write comprehensive tests and contribute to CI pipelines that ensure functionality across a wide range of platforms and devices Contribute to a widely-used open-source project with 27K+ GitHub stars and 25B+ monthly usages Use native browser JavaScript APIs (we use ZERO third-party libraries in runtime) Push TypeScript and other tools to their limit What You Bring: 3-5 years of JavaScript and TypeScript experience , especially in browser environments Experience building libraries or SDKs , especially for production or developer-facing use cases Strong frontend experience (~80%), with backend familiarity (~20%) Deep knowledge of browser JavaScript APIs Experience of writing asynchronous code with parallel execution General understanding of the HTTP protocol and web security Proficiency with build tools like Vite , Webpack , Rollup , Esbuild , including code obfuscation and minification Experience with modern testing frameworks such as Vitest , Jasmine , Jest , or similar Familiarity with security principles , privacy best practices , and adversarial engineering Comfortable working in fast-paced environments without rigid specifications Strong sense of ownership and autonomy; you enjoy working independently and solving hard technical problems Clear written and verbal communication skills in English Nice to Have: Experience in complex domains like media , gamedev , or security , or on technically demanding browser projects (e.g. Google Docs, Figma, Miro, or 3D browser games) Contributions to open-source projects, especially in the JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystem Historical record of open source contributions Compensation Range For US-based employees , the cash compensation range for this role is $130,000 – $180,000 . We set standard ranges for all US roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. To comply with local legislation and provide greater transparency, we share salary ranges on all job postings. However, these ranges are specific to the hiring location and may differ within or outside the US. Offers vary depending on, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, certifications/licenses, skills, training, and market conditions. Due to regulatory and security reasons, there’s a small number of countries where we cannot have Fingerprint teammates based. Additionally, because Fingerprint is an all-remote company and people can join our workforce from almost any country, we do not sponsor visas. Fingerprint teammates need to be authorized to work from their home location . We are dedicated to creating an inclusive work environment for everyone. We embrace and celebrate the unique experiences, perspectives and cultural backgrounds that each employee brings to our workplace. Fingerprint strives to foster an environment where our employees feel respected, valued and empowered, and our team members are at the forefront in helping us promote and sustain an inclusive workplace. We highly encourage people from underrepresented groups in tech to apply. PRIMARY ARCHITECTURE DOMAIN Vanilla JavaScript (ES6+) • Web Components (Custom Elements, Shadow DOM, HTML Templates) • MVVM Architecture • Pub-Sub Event Systems • Reactive UI State Management * NodeJS ROLE SUMMARY Seeking a focused and detail-oriented Software Engineer I to join our Core UI Platform team. In this role, you will move beyond standard monolithic frameworks to design, build, and maintain highly scalable, framework-agnostic No Code UI systems. You will leverage the native capabilities of modern browsers, specializing heavily in Vanilla JavaScript, W3C standard Web Components, and decoupling patterns such as Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) and Publish-Subscribe (Pub-Sub). As an SE I, you will work within an agile squad dedicated to delivering modular, ultra-high-performance UI elements that form the foundational micro-frontends of our enterprise cloud applications. This position is ideal for an engineer who wants to master browser internals, write memory-efficient code, and build foundational architectural systems rather than just consuming third-party UI frameworks. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Component Engineering & Modular UI Development Design, implement, and maintain reusable, performant, and framework-agnostic UI components using modern native Web Component standards (Custom Elements v1, Shadow DOM v1, and HTML Templates). Ensure components adhere strictly to accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA, ARIA roles) and semantic HTML practices. Optimize component performance, minimizing layout thrashing, excessive repaints, and memory leaks caused by improper lifecycle management or dangling DOM references. 2. Architecture & State Management Implementation Implement structured client-side architectures based on the Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) pattern, facilitating clean data binding and strict separation of UI layout from business logic. Utilize Publish-Subscribe (Pub-Sub) patterns, custom event brokers, and message buses to drive decoupled, asynchronous, inter-component communication across disparate micro-frontends. Maintain localized component states and bind them reliably to global application states using asynchronous JavaScript workflows (Promises, Async/Await, Observables). 3. Testing, Documentation & Technical Quality Write robust unit and integration tests for custom components and modules using modern assertion libraries (e.g., Web Component Tester, Jest, Mocha, or Playwright). Document technical designs, architectural decisions, and component APIs using comprehensive JSdoc annotations and Storybook catalogs. Participate proactively in peer code reviews, adhering to organizational guidelines for code cleanliness, functional design patterns, and cross-browser interoperability. TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES & MATRIX Below is the expected competency landscape for an engineer joining at the SE I level: Domain Expected Capabilities (SE I Level) Key Technologies / Concepts Core JavaScript Profound understanding of prototypes, closures, event loops, scopes, execution contexts, hoisting, and deep vs. shallow cloning. Fluent in ES6+ syntax. ES2022+ Async/Await Closures Event Loop Web Components: Ability to author components from scratch. Proficient with Shadow DOM boundaries (open vs. closed), slot composition, and lifecycle callbacks. Custom Elements v1 Shadow DOM HTML Templates LitElement / Lit Design Patterns: Clear separation of concerns using MVVM. Experience building functional 1-way or 2-way data bindings and implementing custom decoupled Pub-Sub message buses. MVVM Pub-Sub Pattern Observer Pattern Data Binding DOM & Events Handling DOM events safely using capture/bubble phases, event delegation, custom event dispatching, and memory cleanup. Event Delegation CustomEvents Pointer Events REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications Experience: 1+ years of professional front-end engineering experience writing production-grade enterprise client-side web applications. Core Expertise: Strong proficiency in vanilla JavaScript (ES6+), semantic CSS3/HTML5, and modern browser APIs. Component Standards: Hands-on experience developing native Web Components or working extensively with lightweight component base-classes like Lit, Stencil, or vanilla APIs. Architectural Concepts: Practical familiarity with the Pub-Sub pattern, decoupling UI state, and handling complex asynchronous event propagation across separate modules. Preferred Qualifications Experience working within monorepos or enterprise-scale Micro-Frontend systems. Familiarity with Custom Element structural optimizations, such as declarative shadow DOM and CSS Understanding of bundle optimization, tree-shaking, and asset delivery pipelines using modern tools such as Vite, Webpack, or Rollup. Strong grasp of cross-browser performance profiling, memory leak investigation via browser DevTools, and performance budgeting. The financial industry is growing at a record pace, but our data providers are still stuck in the past — with cumbersome onboarding processes, complicated APIs, slow infrastructure, and expensive licensing costs. Databento is the market data platform for modern finance. The company provides real-time and historical data across futures, options, and equities through a unified API. By owning the entire market data stack end-to-end, Databento is the first platform of its kind to combine the performance and reliability demanded by the world's leading trading firms with a dramatically simpler developer experience. Our team includes alumni of Two Sigma, Citadel Securities, Flow Traders, Tower Research, PDT Partners, SIG, and other top quantitative firms. We're looking for a midlevel or senior IC to join our Platform/API engineering team. You'll be responsible for building, maintaining, and promoting our JavaScript client library, working closely with our design team to bring production-ready interfaces to life. This role is primarily focused on TypeScript/JavaScript, with some full-stack/Python work as well. Responsibilities Own, build, and maintain our JavaScript client library, ensuring it is robust, well-tested, and easy for external users to integrate with. Integrate native libraries into JavaScript/TypeScript code using tools like N-API, node-addon-api, or Wasm. Build responsive, performant front-end applications using React, Redux, Vite, Web Workers, and WebSockets. Contribute to full-stack projects, including backend work in Python (or Rust), REST API design, and database/migration work. Work between design and engineering teams to translate designs (e.g. Figma handoffs) into production-ready components and design systems. Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including publishing to npm. Document components using Storybook or similar tooling. Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure smooth feature rollouts and updates. Preferred background Experience working between high-performing design and engineering teams, including production-ready design systems and tools (e.g. Figma handoffs). Proficiency with React, Redux, Vite, Web Workers, and WebSockets. Background in trading, market data, or quantitative finance. Hands-on backend experience building APIs, working with databases, and migrations. Full-stack experience with backends in Python or Rust, including REST API design. Familiarity with Storybook or similar component documentation tooling. Good communication skills and work ethic for a remote workplace. If you're excited by the potential of LLMs, voice AI, and building category-defining technology with a kind, ambitious team, you'll love it here. Our customers don't buy software. They buy a working AI agent that answers their calls, resolves their customers' problems, and holds up in production. As a Senior Software Engineer, Agents on our Delivery team, you make that happen for specific customers: you sit with them to understand their workflows, design and write the agent's instructions and conversation behavior, build the integrations the agent calls as tools, and own the agent end to end from blank prompt to production. This is a customer-embedded engineering role, equal parts trusted advisor, integration builder, and prompt engineer, and you are measured on customer outcomes, not features shipped. It's also one of the most in-demand emerging skill sets in the market, and you'll build it on real production traffic, not demos, with real autonomy on a team small enough that your work is visible to customers and leadership alike. What You'll Do Own AI agents for your assigned customers across the full lifecycle: discovery, design, build, evaluation, launch, and live operation. Sit with customers, map their workflows, and translate ambiguous business goals into a concrete agent scope: what the agent handles, what it escalates, and what success looks like. Uncover the customer's real business rules, including the unwritten ones, and pin them down so the agent enforces that business logic strictly. Design and write the agent's prompts, instructions, and conversation flows, and iterate against evals, real transcripts, and your own product taste for what a good conversation sounds like. Wire the agent into customer systems (CRMs, ticketing, internal services): call their APIs as tools, shape inputs and outputs so tool calls are reliable, and handle auth, errors, and edge cases. You won't build the customer's APIs, but you will tell them what the agent needs from an API, then test and validate what they deliver. Build test sets from real cases covering not just the happy path but unhappy paths, edge cases, and hallucination risks; measure agent quality and harden agents for production: guardrails, failure modes, latency, and cost. Monitor live conversations and tool-call health, debug from logs and transcripts, and ship fixes under pressure. Feed recurring patterns and missing capabilities back to Product so each agent makes the next one faster to build. What You'll Bring Customer-facing strength. You can sit across from a customer, converse credibly, and earn trust quickly, including with skeptical stakeholders. You decompose ambiguous, sometimes politically loaded business problems into a concrete plan, communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences, and push back when a request is feasible but wrong. Integration fluency. You understand and can shape integration patterns: how to connect an agent to a customer's APIs, endpoints, and protocols, design clean tool schemas, and handle auth, errors, and edge cases so tool calls are reliable. You validate bespoke, sometimes under-documented customer APIs before an agent depends on them, and you're comfortable with external and third-party systems beyond the customer's own stack. Prompt and instruction craft. You can shape LLM behaviour through structure, instructions, and examples, you write instructions that are unambiguous and easy to follow, and you know why a prompt fails. You work eval-first, and you bring product taste: a feel for what a good conversation sounds like, not just what passes the tests. Nice to have: general-purpose coding experience (TypeScript, Python, SQL); prior forward-deployed, solutions engineering, or customer-embedded work; conversational AI, voice, or contact center domain experience; experience with LLM evaluation tooling and observability. A computer science degree or a software engineering title is not required. If your background is systems administration, integration engineering, technical support, or anywhere else you learned how systems talk to each other by taking them apart, we want to hear from you. We value open and honest communication and proactively seek feedback along the way. We are a company driven to grow and achieve both individually and as a team. Bread Makers: We are humble and strive toward an egalitarian culture. No task is too big or too small. We work together to achieve our goals and develop our company mission. We believe that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts in everything that we do. Självdistans (Self-Distance): Självdistans is Swedish for self-distance.
