The Team

The Investment Solutions and Governance team at Netwealth oversees our financial products across their full lifecycle, from strategy and development through to ongoing management, governance including compliance and disclosure, and investment research.

Netwealth’s product suite includes the Superannuation and IDPS platforms, Managed Accounts and Global Specialist Series funds. The team operates with a research house mindset, undertaking deep due diligence, manager research and ongoing monitoring to support high quality investment outcomes for clients.

The Investment Management and Research team partners closely with Product to research, select and govern the investments available across the platform, with a growing focus on alternative and complex investment strategies.

The opportunity
As an Investment Analyst within the IMR team, you will report to the Head of Investment Research and Governance and play a key role in supporting Netwealth’s investment governance framework.

This role will focus on alternative and complex products, including private markets, hedge funds, structured strategies and other non traditional investment solutions. You will support the selection, due diligence and ongoing governance of specialist managers and products in these areas.

What you will be doing:

  • Support the review, selection and ongoing monitoring of alternative and complex investment products

  • Conduct detailed due diligence on external fund managers, including meetings and qualitative assessment

  • Analyse portfolio construction, risk drivers, liquidity and underlying structures across alternative strategies

  • Prepare high quality written research, investment papers and recommendations for Investment Committee

  • Contribute to ongoing governance of the investment menu including monitoring, watchlists and removals

  • Maintain data integrity and analysis across research platforms such as FactSet and Morningstar Direct

  • Support delivery of Investment Committee reporting and broader IMR work plan initiatives

About you
You are an intellectually curious investment analyst with a strong interest in alternatives and complex product structures. You may come from a research house, investment consulting firm, private markets team or platform environment.

You enjoy getting into the detail, understanding how products are built, where risks sit and how they perform across different market conditions. You are comfortable engaging directly with fund managers and forming independent views.

You bring strong written and verbal communication skills and can translate complex concepts into clear insights for stakeholders.

Your experience

  • Tertiary qualification in finance, commerce or related discipline. CFA or similar is highly regarded

  • Experience analysing or researching alternative investments such as private markets, hedge funds or structured products

  • Strong understanding of investment structures, liquidity profiles and risk return characteristics

  • Experience conducting fund manager due diligence and preparing investment recommendations

  • Familiarity with research tools and data platforms such as FactSet or Morningstar

  • Understanding of platform products and how advisers and clients use them is beneficial

  • Strong organisation skills with high attention to detail

  • Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal
